Skassapunka was born in 2008 in a room of an ancient courtyard in Lainate, near Milan, thanks to the dream of a bunch of (former) kids hoping to enter in the alternative music scene of Milan that they always saw from beneath the stage.
Until 2012, when the EP Purgamentum Dedecusque was released, the band plays in Milan and starts to be known in the underground ska-punk scene, sharing the stage with many historical bands they listened to. In 2013 Skassapunka signs for the indie label Dedolor Records, that releases the first album Di Vento in Vento, allowing the band to play across Italy for the promotion tour.
The year 2015 leads Skassapunka to reach many important goals, in spite of the youthfulness of the members: the band signs for Kob Records, that releases the second album Il Gioco del Silenzio. The CD, that features the important participations of Enrico (Los Fastidios) and Dema (Talco), is distributed in Europe and allows the band to play outside of Italy too.
MAGO
Born and raised surrounded by jazz music thanks to the father, a double bass player, at the age of 15 starts to play classical guitar enamoured by flamenco. Two years later he switches to the electric guitar and the ska-punk: Skassapunka was created. He is inspired in the music by californian punk and in the lyrics by sleepless nights, looking for answers.
REY
4 years studying drums lead him to create the original core of the band, as keyboard player.
He loves ska music, but the “malad” seduces him. In this chain of contradictions here's the jolly joker of skassa: an intriguing, funny guy, armed with long play records and needle for scratch, always looking for the right note. Will he find it?
TOM
One morning Tom woke up sleepy as usual, but that morning he felt that he had to go to the town's orchestra and ask for sax lessons, because he knew that somewhere Jup and Sers were doing the same thing. He meets them in Carnascialeska, gets passionate with them in Lillo e i Vagabondi but with Skassapunka explodes a mix of energy and delirious dances.
ANDY
From the love for drawing to the love for music Andy arrived to Skassapunka, without even knowing how to play his instrument but with a huge willingness to transfer the value of colors to the staff. Then he falls in love and marries Funk music, whose relationship is still stable.
FU
Leading vox of Skassapunka since 2008, he mixes the love for italian song-writing, the love for ska music and the broad love for music and art, claiming that there is no rythm that can be independent from the heartbeat.
JUP
One morning Jup didn't wake up as usual, but that morning he felt that he had to go to the town's orchestra and ask for trumpet lessons, because he knew that somewhere Tom and Sers were doing the same thing. He meets them in Carnascialeska, gets passionate with them in Lillo e i Vagabondi but with Skassapunka explodes a mix of energy and delirious dances.
BERTA
Since the kindergarten age he is more fond of the drums than of his earlier game partners. He studied drums for thirteen years. He is on stage since middle school, and is a founding member of Skassapunka. He navigates between combat-folk and patchanka, ska and blues and touches lightly the classical music. The aphorism of his life: “The true revolutionary has to be strong, without losing tenderness.”
SERS
One morning Sers woke up hyperactive as usual, but that morning he felt that he had to go to the town's orchestra and ask for trombone lessons, because he knew that somewhere Jup and Tom were doing the same thing. He meets them in Carnascialeska, gets passionate with them in Lillo e i Vagabondi but with Skassapunka explodes a mix of energy and delirious dances.
MIRK
He has been studying acoustic and electric guitar for years, looking for his own texture navigating between pop rock and blues. He is seen as the “melodic” of the band. He's not an extroverted guy, so he always tries to communicate and transmit his soul through the six strings.
